Lincolnville Select Board to discuss opening of Penobscot Park, building new Beach fire station

Sun, 06/26/2022 - 9:00pm

LINCOLNVILLE — The Lincolnville Select Board will meet at 6 p.m. June 27 and hear a series of updates, including about Penobscot Park and the effort to extend broadband to all residents in town. And, the Select Board will hear about plans to build a new fire station at Lincolnville Beach to replace the existing facility.

The meeting will conclude with two executive sessions: one focused on a personnel matter, the other to discuss the possible disposition of real property where premature disclosure of the information would prejudice the competitive bargaining position of the Town.

Meetings of the Board of Selectmen are broadcast live on Cable TV channel 22 and streamed live on YouTube.

Currently, Lincolnville is seeking proposals from architects and engineers to help the town design a cost-effective alternative for a new fire station that would replace the existing Beach Fire Station.

The Town is looking toward Fall 2023 for project completion.

Space needs call for two bays, an office, utility room and a storage room, and parking for at least 20 vehicles.

The Penobscot Park, on Route 1, is moving toward opening for public use.

According to a memo to the Select Board from Lincolnville Public Facilities Director David Roundy and Town Administrator David Kinney, the park’s status has been improved with management.

An anonymous donation has been received for a second bench. The donor would like a plaque to affixed to the bench with a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Be silly. Be honest. Be kind.”

The Select Board is to vote on a motion to accept the donation as such.

The discussion will also include whether to allow pets. A recommendation is to allow leashed dogs only, no horses. That goes for ATVs and snowmobiles, as well.

Lincolnville will also consider renewing a three-year contract with North East Mobile Health Services. The 2022-2023 price is to be $69,435, and increase each year by either 4 percent or the consumer price index for all urban consumers.
