THORNDIKE — The Mount View athletic department in Thorndike has a new leader at its helm in a recent alumna.

Krysta Porter, who graduated from the high school in 2016, was named the interim athletic director for middle and high school towards the end of December 2021.

“My philosophy as a coach, and now as an Athletic Director is that every athlete should be learning something from us as coaches and mentors, and that every athlete should leave us, as an athletic department, every day, better in some way, than they were the day before,” she wrote in a letter to the school community.

Porter earned a bachelor’s in sport management with a minor in coaching plus a master’s in business administration from Thomas College.

Most recently, she served as a development coordinator for Trek Across Maine at the American Lung Association and has been the junior varsity softball coach at Mount View since 2019.

“I am looking to elevate the Mount View Athletic program in a way that is respected by [its] peers as a school that always shows sportsmanship, but is also able to perform well at a high level of play,” she said.
