Kristen Lindquist and Paul Doiron to read at Cushing library, Nov. 7
CUSHING — Poetry and crime may seem like an unlikely combination, but Kristen Lindquist and Paul Doiron will make it work, according to Cushing Public Library, in a news release. Join them at a free, live event Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6:30 p.m., at the Cushing Public Library. The Thomaston Public Library is co-sponsoring this collaborative community event.
Lindquist will read from her poetry about the people and landscapes of Maine, while her husband, Paul, will read from his series featuring Maine game warden Mike Bowditch.
A limited quantity of books by both writers will be available for purchase and signing after the event.
Paul Doiron, best-selling author of the Mike Bowditch series of crime novels, set in the Maine woods, has won 2 Maine Literary awards, as well as the New England Society’s 2022 Book Award. His novel “Stay Hidden” was a USA Today Bestseller and “Hatchet Island” his 13 th novel in the series, was voted one of the Best Books of 2022 by Amazon.com.
He was Editor-in-Chief of Down East Magazine from 2005-2013 and is a Registered Maine Guide specializing in fly fishing.
Kristen Lindquist, poet, freelance writer and naturalist, has been featured in Down East magazine, the Maine Times, Bangor Daily News and Bangor Metro. Her poems have been read by Garrison Keillor on NPR radio, and by Maine State Poet Laureate Stuart Kestenbaum on Maine Public Radio. Her Haiku collection, “What We Tell Each Other”, won the 2023 Snapshot Press eChapbook Award.
She is the Haiku Society of America’s Regional Coordinator for New England. An avid birder, she guides bird outings around Maine for various organizations including the Acadia Birding Festival.
