ROCKLAND — The following indictments, against nine defendants, were handed down by a Knox County grand jury Jan. 7. An indictment does not imply guilt.
Dorian Ames, 27, of Vinalhaven, reckless conduct with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief, and discharging a firearm near a dwelling on Vinalhaven Sept. 16, 2019. Ames was arrested on the charges by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. He is accused of discharging a firearm within 100 yards of a private residence. Ames is prohibited from owning a firearm due to a previous conviction in 2015 for domestic violence terrorizing.
Andrew Black, 56, of Tenants Harbor, two counts aggravated trafficking in drugs (heroin and/or fentanyl), importation of drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, all occurring in St. George Nov. 6; criminal forfeiture of $936 and a firearm in St. George Nov. 6, 2019.
Nicholas J. Carpenter, 33, of Thomaston, aggravated assault and criminal restraint for allegedly trying to suffocate a woman in Camden Nov. 9, 2019.
Paul L. Estes, 30, of St. George, negotiating a worthless instrument, identified as a bad check, written for $1,390 to a lumber business in Warren July 17, 2019.
Mark L. Harding, 46, of Rockland, two counts of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer in Thomaston Feb. 12, 2019. He is accused to stealing tools and other miscellaneous items from a recycling business in Thomaston.
Lyndon R. Harrington, 45, of Friendship and Jason T. Weeks, 41, of Friendship were both indicted for aggravated criminal mischief and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer for allegedly sinking a lobster boat Rotten Hog. The Maine Marine Patrol located the boat submerged outside the harbor after the owner had reported to police that the boat was missing. When the boat was found, there were several holes in the hull and it was determined that they were not natural or weather related. The two men are accused of acting together in the boat sinking incident.
Jason D. Patterson, 47, of Rockland, domestic violence assault in Rockland Nov. 2, 2019.
Ronald M. Shellman, 46 of Waldoboro, stealing drugs (buprenorphine), unlawful possession of drugs (buprenorphine), and criminal operating under the influence in Rockland Sept. 8, 2019. Shellman failed to submit to a test, according to police.
