Knox and Waldo counties vote in support of Question 2-Public Education Fund

Wed, 11/09/2016 - 5:00am

Though voters in individual towns, and towns in each county went back and forth in their support, or not, of the Citizen’s Initiative to fund public schools with a new tax on individual income above $200,000, when the totals were calculated voters in both Knox and Waldo counties favored the measure.

In Knox County, the total vote was 12,497 in favor and 10,722 against. And in Waldo County it came out to be 11,214 in favor and 10,629 against. There are still a handful of towns in each county yet to report, but it’s not likely their will be much change in the final picture for these Midcoast communities.

As for statewide, this is another race that is still too close to call, until the final voting results are collected and added up.

Below are charts with the breakdown of how the towns voted.
