OWLS HEAD and NEW GLOUCESTER — Katherine Elizabeth Flint, 54, passed away August 10, 2020 after a courageous four year battle with cancer.

From a young age, Kathy lived life to the fullest. She went through life boldly, and lived true to her yearbook words of  “Living her own life.” She was a firm believer in learning through personal experience and making her way in the world and choosing her own path. Her family was very important to her, and she was often in the middle of planning get togethers. She often joked she couldn’t cook, but could happily clean up afterwards.

Kathy’s friends were also important to her and she introduced several of them to skiing at Sugarloaf, where they had many good times. Her classmates said that she was someone they looked up to because she was strong and colorful; not afraid to stand out and be who she was.

Born at the Knox County General Hospital in 1966, she attended Rockland schools, graduating from Rockland District High School in 1984. Very athletic, she competed in field hockey, the ski team, and the softball team. She attended the University of Southern Maine, majoring in criminology, although spent most of her professional years as a real estate paralegal.

Kathy’s greatest pride and joy came from her daughter, Skye Katherine Conley. Kathy’s favorite moments came from watching Skye play sports, especially basketball. She was an avid fan, rarely missing a game throughout Skye’s high school and college career. She could be found in the middle of the team fans, loudly cheering and giving words of encouragement. She even found ways to get the game online so Skye’s grandparents could watch from Florida.

She took great pride in her home in New Gloucester, and loved decorating and doing crafts for her family. Last Christmas she gave her brothers each personalized scrapbooks following the timeline from when they were born. One year her nieces and nephews all got thick blankets. All of her trips were well documented in books. She was always looking for new crafts to share.

Kathy and Skye loved to travel, and took several trips abroad. Together they explored London, Paris, Lisbon, Barcelona and the northern Mediterranean. These shared experiences gave Kathy great joy.

Kathy was predeceased by her father, William Flint Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Skye; her mother, Louise Flint; her brother Charles Flint and his wife Kelly; her brother William Flint and his wife Martha; her nieces and nephews, Alice and David Flint, Keanu Flint; and her long-term partner Steve Clark.

She is also survived by her aunt, Nancy Eugley and her daughter Rebecca Maltais.

Due to Covid concerns, a small private memorial will be held at a later date. Friends are encouraged to share a memory with the family at bchfh.com

The family would ask that those wishing to donate in Kathy’s memory do so to the Sussman House, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport, ME 04856, or to another charity to help those in need during these difficult times.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
