SEARSPORT — Carver Memorial Library lists the following July 2021 programs:
Summer Storytimes
This summer storytimes will be outside in the fresh air. Bring sunscreen and a blanket, lawn chair, or sit-upon for the grass. We will cancel if it's too hot or wet, so check your email or the library website/Facebook if you're not sure.
We have two kinds of storytimes planned: First Friday storytimes will be at the library on the lawn, and Third Thursdays will be at venues around the community. Miss Ronda is looking forward to seeing everyone!
Outdoor Storytime
First Fridays
When: First Fridays at 10:30 am (July 2, Aug 3)
Where: Library Lawn under the tent
What: Stories, songs, and movement, for young learners! Children from 0-5 and their families are welcome to join!
Out and About Storytime
Third Thursdays
When: Third Thursdays at 10:30 am
Where: around the community!
July 15: Mosman Park gazebo
August 19: TBA
What: Stories, songs, and movement for young learners! Children from 0-5 and their families are welcome to join!
Tuesday Tunes & Tales
Every Tuesday at 2pm in July and August
Drop in and choose a book from our Tunes and Tales Tote for a special story and song. One family at a time, subject to staff availability.

Historical Sailmaking Demonstration
Sunday, July 18, 5-6pm
At the Yard in the Yard, Penobscot Marine Museum
Dayle Ward of Traditional Rigging Co. will demonstrate traditional sailmaking techniques.
Dayle first went to sea at age 17, sailing in Niagara, Pride of Baltimore II, and Spirit of Massachusetts, among others. She is one of a handful of sailmakers familiar with cotton sailcloth, and that will hand finish a sail using centuries-old techniques that stand the test of time.

Animal Shelter Donation Drive
July 19 to July 31
As part of celebrating our Tails and Tales theme, we’re collecting items to help the animals in our local shelters. Drop off clean towels, blankets, bleach, or pet food (canned or dry) at the library, and we’ll bring everything over to the shelters.
