JACKSON — John Y. Mollison Jr., 77, of Jackson, passed away at his home on August 2, 2018.

He was born in Brooks  July 2, 1941 to John Sr. and Marie (Burke) Mollison.  As a young boy he delivered newspapers with his dog, Tippy.

John graduated from Morse Memorial High School, after school joining the Army to become a paratrooper serving time at Fort Bragg and in Germany. He was very proud of receiving his wings after 100 successful jumps.

John returned home to become a poultry farmer, later becoming a harness racer.  Many will remember him and his horse, Jimmy Peanuts, at the Bangor Fair.  He traveled to Lewiston, Windsor, and many other fairgrounds to race.  His love for racing horses never diminished.  He spoke often of racing again someday.

Johnny settled in Jackson, managing property for close friend Bill Daley.  He enjoyed his walks in the woods, watching wildlife and was also a gardener.

John wrote poetry every day and loved to share his poems with close friends.  He is survived by his son, James, and wife Michelle; six sisters, Rosemarie Dudley, Anna Fortenberry, Cathy Sjogren, Barbara Cunningham, Anita Darby, Mary McCormick and brother David Mollison; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their spouses; special friends Darol Ricker, Adrien, Merlon and many more.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home Belfast.
