Johanna I. Wildes, obituary
ROCKLAND — Johanna I. Wildes, 75, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 28, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on September 15, 1950, in Gallatin, Tennessee, to Raymond and Irmgard (Thaller) Trisdale, Johanna moved with her family to Lincolnville in 1956. She attended grade school in Lincolnville and graduated from Camden- Rockport High School in 1968. That same year, she married the love of her life, Larry Wildes of Rockland, after meeting at a dance hosted by the Flanagan Community Center. They went on to share 57 wonderful years together, rarely missing a chance to dance.
Johanna worked at the local Hannaford supermarket for 28 years and also supported her husband’s mobile welding business. In retirement, she devoted herself to what she considered her greatest accomplishment: her children and grandchildren. She also loved running into former co-workers and long-time customers around town and catching up on their lives.
A woman of many interests, Johanna found happiness in tending her vegetable garden, birdwatching and traveling with Larry. Most recently, they traveled to Michigan, where they renewed their wedding vows and reconnected with her half-siblings—memories her family will always cherish.
Johanna is survived by her husband and “partner in crime,” Larry; her sons, Eric and his partner Sara Spencer, and Brian and his wife Samantha; her grandchildren, Aurora, Dakota, Nathan and Zachary and his husband Gregory; her brother, John Duffell, and his wife Pam; and her half-siblings, Anna Holzhaus and Perry Trisdale, and their families.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland where a memorial service will be held the following day on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10 a.m. A graveside committal service will take place in the spring at the Central Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Johanna’s memory to Pope Memorial Humane Society, in honor of her lifelong love of animals.
Those who are unable to attend Johanna’s service may watch a live webcast, share a memory or condolence on her Book of Memories at www.bchfh.com.
