NORTH HAVEN — James “Chip’ Pendleton, 58, died at his home, Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Born in Rockport, he was the son of Daniel and Harriet Stone Pendleton. Chip grew up on North Haven, graduating from high school in 1979. As a young boy Chip enjoyed swinging on the swings, often spending
hours there. He could also be heard calling into the local radio shows, requesting Beatles songs.

An islander his whole life, Chip enjoyed working as a stern man for boats out of Matinicus and North Haven. He was always a hard worker and also worked several carpentry jobs on the island as well. Chip was content ‘hanging out with friends’ and watching the Red Sox. He had a special place in his heart for animals, owning a dog when he was a young man, and even adopting a cat this winter.

Chip was quiet and kept to himself, but was always friendly with a wave and a ‘hi how are ya?’ when you passed him on the street.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Predeceased by his father, Chip is survived by his mother, Harriet of North Haven; his sister, Julie Brown and her companion Mark Smith of Casco; a nephew Stanley Brown and his wife Sara of Durham; a great-niece
Maewyn Brown; as well as his aunts and uncles.

A celebration of Chips life will be held Saturday, May 25, at 11 a.m., at North Haven Baptist Church. Pastor David Macy will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Haven Baptist Church, Discretionary Fund, P.O. Box 435, North Haven, Maine 04563.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
