SEARSPORT — Joseph “Bruce” Probert, 83, husband of Kendra Elaine Newcombe, joined Christ on Friday, June 25, 2021 at his home in Searsport.

Born in Westwood, Massachusetts on August 10, 1937, he was the son of Walter H. and Dorothy (Engstrom) Probert.

Bruce is survived his wife, Kendra Elaine Newcombe; his son, Brian Probert and his wife, Sharyl White; daughter Chris Hiney and her husband, Ed; step daughter Kaitlyn Johnson and husband, Nattapat Niamnud; step daughter Amy Northrop and husband, Bob; step son, Richard Brown and his partner, Karen Jenkins; granddaughters, Megan Hiney and Jillian Hiney, step granddaughter, Arianna Northrop, step grandsons Cooper and Ronin and great grandson, Cassius.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan L. (Guse) Probert; daughter Jean Louise Probert; and granddaughter, his “Bright Light” Sienna White Probert.

Dad wanted a brief obituary and would have stopped here but those who knew him know he was not a man of few words. He cared deeply for his family, friends and the town of Searsport.

Bruce was involved in too many organizations to name but as he said, they are just plaques on the wall. He was a sportsman who loved hunting and fishing, would follow any dirt road to see if it led to a good fishing spot, spent hours working in the woods or the gardens and always made time for kids to feed worms to the bass in the pond.

In keeping with his wishes, no public service is planned. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
