SEARSMONT — Hester May Ryan, 97, passed away at Sussman House in Rockport on May 23, 2018.

Hester was born and raised in Searsmont, Maine the youngest child of Maynard and Bertha (Paine) Cushman. Her home was Searsmont. Hester enjoyed painting and painted many pictures of local points of interest. She also spent many hours knitting mittens to give away and also many hours sewing and crafting.

She was predeceased by her husband Roscoe T. Ryan, her daughter Charlotte Peabody and brothers Lawrence and Leland. She was also predeceased by her long-time companion, Norman Cunningham.

Hester is survived by her son, Roscoe L. Ryan and his partner Judith Robinson of Palermo; her son-in-law Doug Peabody of Hope. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Ryan (Donna), Joanne Delbridge (John), Julie Ryan (Peter York), Roscoe Ryan (Lisa), Mike Ryan (Heather), Gary Peabody (Kimberly) and David Peabody (Maureen). In addition, she leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

At Hester's request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside ceremony will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast. Memories and condolences may be shared at ripostafh.com.
