Heather Hamilton-Peters, obituary
ROCKLAND — Heather Nicole Hamilton-Peters, 27, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, following a very short, courageous battle with cancer, Jan. 30, 2013, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Born in Rockport July 1, 1985, she was the daughter of Alicia Neild Rawley and Robert Kelley. Educated locally she attended Rockland schools.
Heather loved being a stay-at-home mom to her two children. Her family said she loved playing outside with them, especially taking them to the park and to the beach, with trips to get ice cream.
Heather had a magnetic personality and was loved by everyone she met. She had a zest for life that showed through her singing and dancing around the house. Her mother said she was the "life of the party." In Heather's own words upon finding out she had cancer, she said she, "Wasn't going to go out without a fight." And she didn't. She again, in her own words, "Rocked it!" She also enjoyed saving pictures and made many creative scrapbooks.
Heather is survived by her mother, Alicia Neild Rawley; her father, Robert Kelley; and her son, Alex Lee O'Brien, all of Rockland; her daughter, Deja Storm Benner of Tenants Harbor; her brother, Kenneth T. "Buddy" Neild, her sister, Brianna Neild; and a niece, Leah Havener; all of Rockland; her ex-husband, Ashley Peters of Rockland, with whom she remained good friends; her grandmother, Carole Carter of Rockland; as well as a large extended circle of friends who supported Heather through her struggle.
A gathering of love and remembrance will be announced at a later date.
