Harbor Arts Fair at Camden Harbor Park, Amphitheatre, July 12-13
The long-running Camden Harbor Arts Fair returns for a two day art exhibit and sale along with live music, the Camden Public Library’s used book sale, and an artist-led community art project that invites attendees to participate in a large-scale printmaking session.
This free event takes place Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. both days, featuring 90 fine art and craft vendors from all over Maine, New England and away.
Artist mediums include: ceramics, fiber, functional art, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, wood and works on paper.
For the past 10 years, the Camden Public Library has organized the fair as the Harbor Arts and Books fair, but the history of the Fair extends back to at least 1983, when it was started by local painter Carol Sebold, who passed away in 2010.
“The book fair has been a beloved Camden tradition for more than 40 years, and we are proud of the role the library has played in its growth and success," said Camden Public Library Director Kristy Kilfoyle. "As it transitions into a community partner-led event, we’re excited to continue supporting it in new ways—keeping the spirit of the fair alive while making space for the next chapter in its story.”
The Harbor Arts Fair takes place twice a year, in July and October. This year’s fall fair is scheduled for October 4 and 5 and will also feature a community-building aspect.
The new coordinator, Arlene Brokaw says, “Plans are still developing for the October show, but I’m hoping to incorporate a student art exhibit and an apple cider pressing and tasting. My goal is to enhance the amazing art and talent that is on display with more interactive pieces. Art is for everyone!”
