BELMONT — Goldie Mae (York) Green of Belmont, Maine, 97, went home to be with the Lord May 9, 2021, on Mother’s Day, at her home with her family at her side.

She was born May 6, 1924 in Belfast, Maine. She was the daughter of Milford Patten and Jessie Isabel (Harvey) York.

She was married to Alfred S. Green, Sr. on October 26, 1941. He passed on January 4, 1997. Goldie was a dedicated wife, mother, grand, great, and great great grandmother. Her family was especially important to her. She was a very sweet, tender-hearted lady, loved by all who knew her.

Goldie was a hard worker. Besides her mother duties, always cooking three meals a day, washing clothes in her wringer washer (once even catching her hair in the wringer), she also worked in her garden, waiting for their harvest of fruits and vegetables to can by the hundreds. Being farmers, she also was needed to help with tending the animals, feeding and milking the cows and haying. It was a family affair, their little farm, with dad and mom working side by side, both inside and out.

One of Goldie’s greatest passions was taking her kids to church, where she played the guitar as the kids sang along. She loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian woman. So much could be written and spoke of about this precious woman of God, truly a Proverbs 31 woman.

Goldie was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Alfred S. Green Sr.; brother, Collins York, sisters, Annie York Sylvester and Georgianna York Bishop; her daughter “Faye” Alfreda Green; and son James David Green; her grandson, Robert P Grass Jr.; great granddaughter Ashley Littlefield and great-grandson Arden Hayes.

She is survived by three sons, Alfred Jr., (wife Elaine) of Appleton, Peter (wife Laurie) of Lincolnville and Timothy of Searsport; seven daughters, Marilyn (husband Daniel Pendleton) of Lincolnville, Barbara Green of Searmont, Sandra (husband Anthony Bonin) of Northport, Sharon (husband Edwin Ingraham Sr.) of Searmont, Rebecca (husband Robert Grass Sr.) of Searsport, Ramona Glidden of Rockland, Brenda (husband Ray Morse Jr.) of Belmont.

She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Maxine Burgoin of Bangor; 27 grandchildren, Bethany, Tamber, Corey Sr., Rodney Jr., Monica, Renee’, Anthony Jr., David, Amanda, Jennifer, Jessica, Joshua, Jeremy, Michelle, Edwin Jr., Samuel, Billie Jo, Mark Sr., Arthur Jr., Angela, Molli, Holli, Heidi, Jackson, Matthew, Raven, Dylan; 67 great-grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Goldie’s celebration of life service on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 12 noon at Faith Temple Church of God, Rt 52, Belfast Maine.

Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.ripostafh.com
