SOUTH THOMATON — Gerald Malcolm Jackson, 76, known as “Jerry” to friends and family, passed away at his home on August 18, 2026.

Born on February 27, 1950, Jerry was the son of Malcolm and Dorothy (Johnson) Jackson. He was the second eldest of five brothers, sometimes referred to as “The Jackson 5.” He attended Rockland area schools and was a 1968 graduate of Rockland District High School.

Jerry grew up on a farm in South Thomaston, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, and swimming in the summer, and sledding and ice skating in the winter. He especially enjoyed spending summers at “Aunt Helen’s Camp” on South Pond in Warren.

As an adult he enjoyed family barbeques, Fourth of July celebrations, Christmas Eve gatherings for the whole family, and renting cottages on the lake in the summers. He loved camping “Up North” with his brothers, nephews, and friends, and enjoyed adventures on the Blue Nose Ferry to Nova Scotia.

Jerry had many jobs and careers throughout his life. These included digging clams, working on the Bath Bridge, and working at Borealis Breads, Chemrock, and Atwood Lobster Co. During the late 1970’s through the 1990’s, Jerry was the manager of Human Resources and part owner of North Atlantic Products, Inc., along with his father Mac, his brother Ron, and his uncle Bill. The processing plant processed and exported dogfish, as well as other seafood products, such as Maine shrimp, sea urchins, monkfish and elvers. He was also a part owner of Oakside Video in South Thomaston.

Jerry was a big fan of all Boston sports teams, cheering for the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Boston Bruins. He was an especially avid Red Sox fan, and never missed a game on TV. For the last 20 years, Jerry and his nephew Tom enjoyed their daily morning coffee outings, where they talked about politics and current events.

Jerry was generous and always enjoyed helping others. He will be greatly missed by his mother, Dorothy, whom he lived with and helped care for. She says, “He was my rock. He did everything for me, and I will miss him very much.”

Jerry is survived by his mother, Dorothy Jackson; his brothers Ronald Jackson (Brenda), Paul Jackson (Deborah), and Daniel Jackson Sr. (Kelly); as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Malcolm Jackson; his brother Thomas Jackson Sr.; and his niece Priscilla Robinson.
