Parker Laite of the Camden Rotary Club awarded the prestigious Paul Harris Award to a surprised George McKiernan, of Camden, at the club's meeting Jan. 5. 

The award recognized McKiernan’s outstanding dedication to service and a life given to the charitable principles of Rotary. In his presentation Laite cited McKiernan’s "countless" hours of volunteer time given to hospice, the local library, and the fire department in communities where he has lived. McKiernan received a long standing ovation from grateful club members.
