Geneva M. Terrio, obituary

SOUTH THOMASTON — Geneva M. Terrio, 94, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born in Rockland, July 29, 1924, she was the daughter of Robert and Florence Stewart Henderson. She was educated in local schools.

She married the love of her life, Joseph A. Terrio, July 23, 1940. Together, the couple raised six children.

Over the years they resided in several homes in Rockland, Rockport, Warren, until moving to South Thomaston.

For several years, Mrs. Terrio worked seasonally at area fish processing factories.

In the past she enjoyed embroidery work and doing word search games. She was noted as an accomplished cook, loved her cats and more than anything was devoted to her family.

Other than her parents, Mrs. Terrio was pre-deceased by her husband of 68 years, Joseph A. Terrio, Sr.,; a grandson, Matthew Ames; a son-in-law, Robert C. Snowdeal; two daughters-in-law, Melaine Terrio, Nancy Terrio, as well as two brothers, Jacob “Jake” Kliewer and Donald “Rufus” Kliewer.   

She is survived by four sons, Joseph A. Terrio, Jr. and his wife Faye of Helena, MT, Lawrence “Larry” L. Terrio of South Thomaston, Frances “Frank” L. Terrio and his wife Judith of Rockland, Robert “Bobby” C. Terrio of Florence, MT; two daughters, Rose M. Snowdeal of South Thomaston, Jo-Ann P. Ames and her husband Thomas of Owls Head; 27 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren, as well as many extended family members.

Geneva’s family wanted to thank the Camden Nursing Association, Visiting Nurses, and especially the staff of Hospice and everyone at the Sussman Hospice House for the exceptional care they provided.  

A graveside service will be announced in early summer at Seaview Cemetery, Rockland.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter and Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
