Four arrested as a result of Waldo County traffic stop
STOCKTON SPRINGS — Four Waldo County residents were arrested as a result of a Jan. 13 traffic stop on Cape Jellison Road, according to a Jan. 21 report from Maine State Police.
An investigative motor vehicle stop was initiated by the MSP Central Field Troop, with the reason for the stop listed as various tips regarding illegal firearm activity and stolen property. The reports constituted reasonable suspicion, allowing for the stop, State Police said.
The traffic stop produced evidence of potential drug use and drug trafficking, including over 192 grams of off-white powder that was found in the vehicle and a large bag of "drug equipment," accoring to the report.
The stop led to the immediate arrest of Nicholas Hart, 38, and Brittany Saucier, 25, who were both found to be in violation of their bail conditions.
Charges related to the suspected narcotics are reportedly pending lab results.
The investigation revealed probable cause for MSP to apply for a seach warrant, which was granted and executed the following morning, Jan. 14. The search warrant was served to a residence on Cross Lane, where Hart and Saucier were reportedly believed to be using.
Execution of the search warrant revealed a 22 Revolver, a 22 Long Rifle, a 30-30 Lever Action Hunting Rifle, and 2 Muzzle loaders, in addition to stolen property reportedly valued at $3,000. The stolen items were returned to their rightful owner, police said.
While securing the residence for the search warrant, Tyler Damon, 33, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Raymond Pomeroy Jr., 39, resides in the home that was searched, though he is currently incarcerated. He was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and violating bail.
Troopers were assisted by the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office and Searsport Police Department at the traffic stop.
The investigation is ongoing.
