Food, music, chairlift rides, bounce house, Maine Warden K9s and more...

CAMDEN — Great fall weather is in the forecast for the 4th annual Harvest Hoot at the Camden Snow Bowl Saturday, and there’s going to be a ton of things to do for all ages, including meeting Animal Planet’s North Woods Law cast member and Maine Game Warden Chris MacCabe.
The Harvest Hoot is put on by Five Town Communities That Care and admission is $5; children under 5 get in free. All proceeds benefit FTCTC's Skills Training and Recognition, STAR, after-school program that focuses on skills development for students in fifth- through eighth-grades in Appleton, Camden, Hope, Lincolnville and Rockport. STAR is offered at no cost to participants, funded in part by a Maine Juvenile Justice Advisory Group grant.
Running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Hoot will be the place to meet and greet with Maine Warden Service K9 units, climb aboard a fire engine and an ambulance, explore the Operation Game Thief trailer and listen to live local music all day.
This year's bands include an acoustic version of Sea Train (classic rock, R&B and funk); The LaClaires (acoustic roots, country, bluegrass and gospel); Hafsol (hard rock, light metal, punk and blues); and Fading Dawn (class rock, hard rock and metal).
Food vendors this year include Sal's Calzone and Sausage, the Rockland Kiwanis Food Truck, Jojo's Corn, Mamma's Boys, Laugh Loud Smile Big, Total Victory Ice Cream and homemade pies.
If you love animals, Hoot will have those as well because pets are a great way to help teach kids how to work responsibly with animals. P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center will be on hand with kittens to snuggle, as well as children's activities and information for pet lovers. Big dog George will be there too, offering big, wet smooches for a $1 donation.
Kids can run around and have fun at the bounce house and dunk tank, watch cub car races and a pinewood derby, and try out the paintball slingshot, stump hammering and rain gutter regatta. There will also be face painting, and the chairlift will be open for rides to the top of Ragged Mountain and a summit view of Penobscot Bay and the islands.
