'Fleabag' captured-live London stage production at Strand Theatre, Jan. 16
ROCKLAND — Fleabag, written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, will be presented as a National Theatre Live screening, Thursday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., at the Strand Theatre. The award-winning play that inspired the BBC’s hit TV series Fleabag was filmed live on stage in London’s West End in 2019. Following its box-office record-breaking run in cinemas that year, the one-woman show returns for encore screenings.
Directed by Vicky Jones, Fleabag is a rip-roaring look at some sort of woman living her sort of life.
Fleabag may seem oversexed, emotionally unfiltered and self-obsessed, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With family and friendships under strain and a guinea pig café struggling to keep afloat, Fleabag suddenly finds herself with nothing to lose.
National Theatre Live is an initiative presented by the Royal National Theatre in London that broadcasts captured-live performances to cinemas, and is now seen by over 900,000 people worldwide.
Fleabag is appropriate for ages 15 and up. Running time is 1 hour, 24 minutes.
Tickets are $15/General Admission, $12/Strand Members, and are available at the Strand website at www.RocklandStrand.com, at the walk-up box office when the theater is open for shows, or at the door 30 minutes prior to show time.
The Strand Theatre is located at 345 Main St., Rockland.
