Few to none step up to run for municipal office in Rockport

ROCKPORT — A trend appears to be underway in the immediate Midcoast, with barely any citizens stepping forward to run for office, and Rockport is no exception.

Not one person took out papers to serve on the School Administrative District 28 (Camden-Rockport K-8) School Board, nor the Five Town CSD (Camden Hills Regional High School). Carole Gartley is not seeking to fill her seat again on those two boards.

Denise Munger is the sole candidate to submit papers to run for the open three-year seat on the Rockport Select Board. Current Chairman Ken McKinley is filling out his final term on the board and said he will not run again.

No one is running the Budget Committee.

There are two empty seats on the Library Committee, and incumbent Stevie Kumball is the only candidate to be interested in serving on it.
