DAYTONA, FL & ROCKLAND, ME – Edward J. Mazurek, Jr., 54, affectionately known as “E.J.”, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 in his home town of Daytona, Florida, due to complications from Covid-19.

Born June 7, 1966, he was the son of Maryellen Mazurek, and the late Sen. Edward J. Mazurek.

E.J. moved to Rockland, Maine, with his family at the age of 11, where he was raised and educated in Rockland Public Schools. E.J. graduated from Rockland District High School in 1984.

E.J. loved the game of football. During high school he had the good fortune to have been coached by his father. E.J. was an avid football fan and his loyalty always resided with the New England Patriots. He named his beloved dog Bruschi after his favorite Patriots linebacker.

Family was always very important to E.J. and he loved spending time with them. He raised two beautiful children, Cameron and Taylor with their late mother Laurie L. Taylor.

E.J. was an amazing father. Always looking for a thrill he loved to ride roller coasters with his children, particularly at Busch Gardens and Six Flags. E.J. was full of life and loved having adventurous toys. He owned many boats, cars, trucks and snowmobiles throughout his life.

E.J. spent 13 years as a Corrections Officer at the Maine State Prison, a Sales and Leasing Consultant at Fuller Chevrolet, a Motorman on an oil drilling rig for Patterson-UTI, and he was currently employed as a

Superintendent at Latitude Margaritaville. E.J. built lifelong friendships with his work families and left lasting impressions on everyone.

E.J. had the uncanny ability to build and fix anything and everything. He was more than just a handyman.

Over the years E.J. did hundreds of projects for both family and friends. He was so meticulous and never stopped until a project was complete and finished his way. After relocating back to Florida, E.J. really found his niche and developed a strong passion for riding motorcycles. He created countless memories and recorded thousands of miles on his motorcycle with his biking family. He especially loved poker runs.

Predeceased by his daughter Taylor Mae Mazurek; his father Edward J. Mazurek; and his brother Michael J. Mazurek, E.J. is survived by his son Cameron M. Mazurek of Davenport, Florida; his mother, Maryellen Mazurek, of Rockland; his brother Richard J. Mazurek and his wife Jennifer of Union and their children, Nicholas and Alexis; his sisters, Laura E.
