E-Bike rider struck by vehicle in Rockland suffers serious injuries
ROCKLAND — A person riding an electric bike in a Rockland neighborhood suffered serious, yet non life-threatening injuries Thursday evening, after being struck by a vehicle.
Names have not been released at this time, following the Dec. 26, 2024 incident that occured just prior to 6:20 p.m.
According to Rockland Police, the female riding the bicycle was about to turn onto Franklin Street from Pleasant Street when she was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Pleasant Street.
The three police officers who responded to the scene ruled out operator impairment, and are leaning toward lack of lighting in the area as well as lack of lighting on the bicycle. No criminal charges are expected, though the case continues to be investigated.
As Rockland Police, Fire, and EMS were tending to the scene, Knox Regional Communications received a call from a Rockland resident in a different area of the city requesting that the fire department come check her residence. EMS then received a medical call at a different location, which they redirected to North East Mobile Health Services. Meanwhile, two of the officers branched off in order to help search for an adult wanderer from Owls Head known for walking to Downtown Rockland. That person was located within an hour or two.
