Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Robinson, obituary

Wed, 09/26/2018 - 12:15pm
Dorothy “Dottie” Robinson, 77, was reborn into heaven on September 25, 2018 after a brief illness, with family by her side.  She was born May 31, 1941 to Edith and Raymond Small. She was raised, and educated in Thomaston.

Dottie married, and started her family after high school eventually having four children.  She was a hard worker, sometimes having two or three jobs to provide for her family. In her early career she was a produce manager at Sampson’s, and then Sure Save.  She decided to continue her education, and dedicated 28 years working at Penobscot Bay Medical Center.

Dottie was known for her loving nature, as well as  her sense of humor.  She accepted everyone without judgement. Dottie would help a friend, family or stranger in need.  She loved a good joke, and a good hug equally.

She courageously endured the passings of her daughter, Debbie, at 3 days old; both of her parents; her brother Ronald; her brother-in-law, Archie; and her spouses.

She is survived by her children, Mary Dorr, Lewis Bowden Jr., Victoria Witham and her son-in-law Sean Witham, and her sister Mary Chase.

She had numerous family members including, nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She had many dear friends who will miss her greatly.  Her definition of “family” was not limited to blood relation. She is survived by many others who were also lucky enough to affectionately call her “Mom” or “Nanny,” as well.  Our family doesn’t feel the need to list everyone’s name individually, considering  she commonly called us by two or three other names before getting to the right one anyway.... another trait we adored about her.

At her request, we will not be offering a public service. She never did enjoy being the center of attention, even though she was the center of our  worlds. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local food pantry.  If you cannot donate, please honor this beautiful woman by showing love, and kindness to others.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.directcremationofmaine.com.  Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine Belfast, Me.
