ROCKLAND — Doris Mank Paulsen, formerly a resident at Rankin Center in Rockland for over 30 years, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at her home in Jupiter, Florida. She was 106 years old.

Born September 10, 1917 to Burleigh and Addie (Miller) Mank, she was the fourth of eight children. She grew up in the Union area and in 1937 she married Bob Mitchell. They had two daughters, Pat and Bunny and had a few happy years before splitting up. In 1946 she married John Paulsen and became “mom” to several more children who had recently lost their mother.

During her lifetime she wore many hats. She was a caregiver, a clerk, a cook, a housemother and she and John owned and operated a home for the elderly on Rankin Street until his retirement. Along the way they had a son
together in 1955, John Jr.

They mostly lived in Maine but lived briefly in Connecticut and New Jersey. Maine was always “home” even after she moved to Jupiter over eight years ago. Wherever they lived they always found a church where they could serve the Lord they loved. Together they served in the Gideons for 27 years. Over the years Doris held Good News clubs to introduce children to Jesus and taught women’s Bible study classes. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Rockland but while she lived in Jupiter she attended the Nazarene Church in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John; sisters, Lorraine Seekins, Gertrude Moody and Madelyn Hall; her brothers, Vernon, Floyd, Burleigh Jr. and Bryant Mank; her stepsons Ralph Paulsen, Donald (Betty) Paulsen; and her step-daughters, Hope Brown and Grace Chapman.

She is survived by her daughters, Pat Ross (Don) of Warren, Maine, Bunny McLellan (Jim) of Jupiter, Florida; a son, John Paulsen Jr. (Frances McAleer) of Ft Lauderdale, Florida; and a stepson, Richard Paulsen (Debbie Kinney) of St. George, Maine; a cousin, several nieces and nephews and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grands.

Her prayer for the family is that they would come to know Jesus as Savior so they can join her one day in heaven.

Family and friends may visit Friday, February 23, 2024, from 1 to 2 p.m., with a service to be held immediately following at 2 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.

Private interment will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Daily Bred Ministries, P.O. Box 266, Grand Rapids, MI 49501.
