I'm, Don White. I have been a year-round resident for 26 years. I am seeking a third term as your representative on the Camden Select Board. The past few months have been challenging, however, with hard work, attention to detail and dedication, I will continue to work as a member of the Select Board to bring about solutions, best practices and positive changes moving forward.

Running our town is a team effort. For the past six years we have begun and worked on programs, that when completed, will bring needed changes and significant benefits to the town.

I will work to finalize and secure the funding to complete the plans which are included in the Downtown Master Plan to create the upgrades for a vital downtown, public landing and harbor.

Working with local and state officials, I will continue to support completion of the three Maine DOT projects already in the planning stages on Washington Street, and Rt. 1 north and south of town to improve vehicular and pedestrian traffic while taking into consideration landowners along the routes.

I will continue to support the 4-Seasons Committee, in which I have been instrumental in creating, to actively seek funds and methods to make the Snow Bowl a year-round family-friendly facility.

With more of our citizens walking and biking, I will continue to support upgrading our sidewalks and bike paths and making them ADA compliant.

Housing issues, affecting our senior citizens and young families, needs to be addressed and I will propose a focused and capable Ad Hoc committee to create a plan to find a solution to the needs.
In addition, I will focus on the challenges facing our older residents by assembling a citizens committee which can help identify needs and bring solutions and ideas forward.

I will continue to support developing a mixed use plan for the Sagamore Farm property off Rt. 1. Completing a solar farm on the Sagamore Farm property will be one of the town's first steps in making Camden a more sustainable community. In addition to the recreational uses on the Sagamore Farm acreage, appropriate residential and commercial development there will have a positive impact on the town's tax base.

A strong Codes Enforcement and Planning Departments is very important to appropriate residential and business development to create a successful future for our town.

Our zoning ordinances need to be addressed and we need to find ways to make Camden more business friendly while not losing our special "small town" atmosphere.

It is time to elect a Charter Commission to update our Town Charter to reflect the current and future operations of our town government.

I pledge to help create and support economic and community development, to explore new opportunities and develop new projects that will positively drive our town's economic engine while maintaining the look and feel that makes Camden a special place; to work with various town committees to secure outside funding to complete programs already in the works and to seek new sources of revenue for projects and enhancements to ensure vitality in our town.

Municipal government experience will be important as we move Camden forward.
