DePatsy scores 1000th point in loss to Oceanside

ROCKLAND — The game at Oceanside East Tuesday night was an incredibly well fought matchup of two local teams that have developed quite the rivalry over the past few years.

The two teams often work to provide variety doubleheaders which always makes for a full house and excited crowd.

In the end, Oceanside was able to hold off the Panthers to capture the 62-57 win. Oceanside goes to 4-0 with the win while Medomak Valley falls to 2-2.

However the real excitement came when Medomak Valley's Nicholas DePatsy scored his 1000 and 1001 points to tie the score at 40-40 with 3:28 left in the third quarter. The place erupted and they stopped the game to present Nick with the game ball for his accomplishment.

Oceanside was led by Keenan Hendricks with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Medomak Valley was paced by DePatsy with 16 points. Both Hendricks and DePatsy were named the Southend Grocery Player of the Game.

There were 10 lead changes in the game and six times the score was tied

Oceanside will travel to Lawrence of Fairfield Friday, Dec. 18 for a 7 p.m. tip off. Medomak Valley will try to get back on track when they host Nokomis of Newport Friday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.
