BELFAST — The 16th annual Wienerfest took place Sunday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., hosted by PAWS Animal Adoption Center.

Proceeds from the event, which was $3 to attend, go back to PAWS. The adoption center is located in Camden.

Visitors and attendees at the event varied from Mainers to several families from outside the U.S. including Belgium, Mexico, and Germany.

There were a number of vendors featured at the event, most offering pet-centric wares, along with several snack options.

Events scheduled during Wienerfest included the Grand Parade of Dachshunds, a raffle, the Canine Costume Contest, and a Doxie Derby.

Wienerfest 2019 was sponsored by Front Street Shipyard, Lincolnville Communications Inc., and Trupanion, which offers medical insurance for pets.

This year’s Wienerfest poster was designed by Norma Whitman.

PAWS Animal Adoption Center, which is a nonprofit, is at 123 John Street in Camden.

The Center’s mission is “to provide care for homeless dogs and cats until they can be placed in permanent responsible homes while promoting humane values in our community through our outreach and educational programs,” according to their website.
