Spend the day in historic Machias with Five Town CSD Adult Ed, August 11. According to Five Town, in a news release, Machias is where the very first naval battle of the Revolutionary War happened. Visit the Burnham Tavern where the patriots hatched their plot against the British and which also served as a hospital during the battle. 

During this one-day trip, participants will visit the historic Burnham Tavern for a guided tour. They will also get to see the 1810 Gates House Museum in Machiasport, visit famous Jasper Beach, browse the Art Gallery at the University of Maine at Machias, and stop for lunch at the celebrated Helen’s Restaurant.

The trip leaves at 7:30 a.m. from Camden Hills Regional High School, returning about 10 p.m. For more information visit Machias: Historic Gem of Washington County.

New reduced price. Cost is now $85 paid by cash or check, which covers the bus only; meal costs are not included. No admissions fees, but voluntary donations are accepted, according to Five Town.
