David Spahr photo exhibit to display at Gibbs Library

    WASHINGTON — The Gibbs Library will feature the photographs of Washington’s mushroomologist, David Spahr, from Thursday, January 10, through Tuesday, March 5. 

    Spahr is a naturalist, photographer, farmer, forager, and an environmental political activist.  

    Spahr authored Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms of New England and Eastern Canada. His book is available in the Maine Author section of the library.

    He has led foraging tours in Washington as part of the Gibbs Library’s Adult Programming. 

    Spahr is a 1969 graduate of North Yarmouth Academy and a 1973 graduate of Hartwick College, with a degree in art.

    The Gibbs Library is located at 40 Old Union Road, in Washington Village.

    It is open Monday, 4 - 7 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. - noon and 4 - 7 p.m.; Thursday, 3 - 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 - 5 p.m.
