To promote one of the pillars of its organization's mission, the Penobscot Expedition Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has donated 25 copies of the children's book Johnny Tremain: A Story of Boston in Revolt - A Revolutionary War Adventure for Kids to each of the "Lil Libraries" in Waldo County. 

The initiative celebrates America's 250th Anniversary, aligning with DAR’s mission, which focuses on promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism.  

"A classic of children's historical fiction. Johnny Tremain is a thrilling Newbery Medal – winning novel about the Revolutionary War," said the Chapter, in a news release. "This is a book that has impacted many in their formative years and continues to have a strong impact years later."

Waldo Reads! Little Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange.

"Each Little Library is unique, often with whimsical and eye-catching features, but most begin as a small, free standing wooden box filled with books," said the DAR.

Anyone may take a book or leave a book to share. 

The Waldo Reads! Little Library project is an initiative of Literacy Volunteers of Waldo County.
