Cushing Community School 4th annual plant, seedling, bake sale
The Cushing Community School students have been busy not only “Growing their Community”, but once again they’ve been busy growing vegetables and flowers from seed, and creating informational posters to be ready for their 4th annual plant, seedling, and bake sale on Sunday, June 1, from 9 a.m. - 1 pm.
This fundraiser is a collaborative effort by the teaching staff, the CCS Family & Friends Group, and the Georges River Land Trust, who will host the event at the Langlais Art Preserve on 576 River Road in Cushing, rain or shine. Proceeds from the sale will benefit all students at CCS, and funds raised this year will be used to help provide a variety of outdoor learning spaces for them to enjoy and connect with the land and environment that surrounds them.
"Our thanks to local residents and community businesses for their support: River Road Farm, Bull Run Farm, Saltwater Farm, Haynes Farm, E.L. Spear Lumber and Hardware, and Walmart," said CCS, in a news release.
Beyond seedlings, this year CCS welcomes Honey Petal Plants, who will be there with plants native to Maine and the Northeast for sale, and helpful information to help customers choose and care for them.
CCS still welcomes perennials from the community at large, and plants to be donated should be dropped off at the Preserve on Saturday, May 31, between the hours of 1 - 5 p.m.
"Last, but not least, you can count on finding a delicious snack at our CCS Bake Sale, and donations of baked goods can be delivered during the Saturday hours or between 8 and 10 am on Sunday morning," said CCS.
Bring the whole family as everyone will also enjoy the incredible sculptures and trails at Langlais Art Preserve, "one of Cushing’s true treasures," said CCS.
