College planning workshop for adults offered in Belfast
BELFAST — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop entitled, Essentials of College Planning for adults 19 & over, July 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center.
MEOC, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, assists qualified adult citizens of Maine to begin or return to college. GED/SAT preparation, college planning, referrals, advocacy, career advising, financial aid advising and assistance with the college admissions process are all provided at no cost by MEOC.
The starting point for MEOC participants is at the free interactive workshop, The Essentials of College Planning, that outlines four steps in the process of beginning a college education: admissions, financial aid, career planning and study skills. The workshop lasts approximately 1-2 hours. Pre-registration is required.
MEOC placed 587 Maine adults into colleges in 2018, according to Hutchinson Center, in a news release.
