UNION — Chrystal A. Athearn, 73, of Union, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born on January 13, 1947, in Hope, she was the daughter of Oliver J. and Anna (Hart) Athearn and was a graduate of Union High School.

After graduation, Chrystal moved to Portland where she dabbled in various professions for several years before moving to Lowell, Massachusetts. She spent the next 25 years working for Compugraphics Corporation before returning to Union to be closer to her family.

Chrystal loved to read, welcomed any excuse to get dressed up and go out, and could often be found sporting her favorite color, blue. She enjoyed stories that ended with a ‘happily ever after’ and was a big fan of the Hallmark Channel. Chrystal was kind, had a wonderful outlook on life, and took adversity in stride. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Chrystal will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Lynn (Cathy) Athearn; her sister-in-law, Marilyn ‘Lyn’ Athearn and her companion; Tim Burns, all of Union; sister, Linda Athearn of Rockland; and eight nieces and nephews, Michelle Athearn, Brian (Nikki) Athearn, Erica (Michael) Flagg, Hannah Heald, Dominic Athearn, Vincent Athearn, Mia Flagg and Evelyn Athearn.

Predeceased by her parents, Oliver and Anna Athearn; two brothers, Raye and Loren Athearn; sister Rebecca Sartain; niece Lynette Athearn; and nephew Aaron Athearn.

A service to celebrate Chrystal’s life will be announced at a later date and will be held graveside in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Appleton. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.

Arrangements are with Long Funeral Home & Cremation, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
