Letter to the editor: Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce

Chamber golf tournament a hit

Mon, 09/14/2020 - 4:30pm

With picture-perfect weather, the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual Chamber Golf Tournament on Friday, September 11th.

Eleven teams competed for a range of prizes, including the possibility of winning a 2020 Buick Encore GX from Stanley Chevrolet Buick in Belfast!

Northport Golf Club has become skilled this summer at hosting a fun round of golf while maintaining virus precautions, and the Chamber tournament was no exception. Using masks, social distancing, and plenty of consideration for each other, the golfers, staff and volunteers kept the event flowing and enjoyable.

Although no players succeeded in making a hole-in-one to win the car, the day ended with a socially distanced time to relax and listen to the announcement of almost $800 in prizes!

Event coordinator Josh Hunt of KSW Federal Credit Union, this year’s major sponsor, thanked Paul Doody of Camden National Bank for his hard work as event coordinator for the past many years. Josh then announced that Horch Roofing had won the overall team competition this year, with EcoCor and Rollie’s tied for second place.

In all, 43 local businesses or groups supported the event, including tournament sponsors LCI Fiber Optic Network, Whitecap Builders, Nordic Aquafarms and Mid Coast Tech, plus contest sponsors Front Street Shipyard, Changing Seasons Federal Credit Union, Downeast Credit Union, Giles Consulting and Edward Jones/Belfast.

The Belfast Area Chamber’s goal is to support economic prosperity across Waldo County through networking, education and promotion of the region and its businesses. More information is at www.BelfastMaine.org.
