    SEARSPORT — Carver Memorial Library, in Searsport, announces programs and events for the month of December 2022.
     
    Downtown Storywalk: One Maine Christmas Eve by Douglas Coffin
    Downtown storefront windows this December.
    Just in time for the Searsport Tree Lighting on Friday December 9!
    In partnership with local businesses.
    As families walk through downtown, they will find pages of the story, about farm animals coming to the rescue when Santa's sick reindeer ground his flight.
     
    The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.
     
    Book Club: The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
    Monday December 12, 1pm - NOTE different day this month!
    Location: Library Reading Room.
    All welcome! Discuss or just listen in.
     
    Spice Club
    December: Cinnamon

    Kits available on the third Friday of the month.
    Try new flavors, explore new recipes, or just get out of a cooking rut. Enjoy at your own pace.

    Teens Create: Paper Cone Gnomes!
    Tuesday December 20, 3pm (third Tuesdays)
    Create and decorate your own unique gnome using paper and other art supplies. If you want, bring your favorite wrapping paper to use as decoration! For teens and preteens age 11-19.
     
    Solstice by the Sea Storywalk
    Wednesday, December 21, 4-6pm, Sears Island.
    Part of the Friends of Sears Island’s Solstice by the Sea celebration. The featured book is The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper, illustrated by Carson Ellis.
     
    Closed for Christmas, Saturday to Monday, December 24-26.
    Closed for New Years, Monday January 2.

     

    Fundraisers:

    Gift Basket Silent Auction
    Monday Nov 15 through Thurs. Dec 15 at 4:45pm.
    Bid during open hours and by phone.
    Festive baskets with themes such as tea, food, crafts, and many more!
    All proceeds benefit the library.
     
    Children's Quilt raffle
    Raffle closes Monday December 19 at 3pm.
    Get your tickets soon!

    We are raffling off a beautiful and nostalgic quilt featuring Liberty Graphics children's book images. Handmade by local quilter Louise Seekins. Proceeds will benefit children's materials and programs. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and are available at the front desk. Come see the quilt on display in the Reading Room.
