SOUTH THOMASTON — Four teens were able to evacuate a vehicle that rolled over on Westbrook Street in South Thomaston, Sunday afternoon.

On March 15, at approximately 12:15 p.m., South Thomaston Ambulance, St. George Rescue, and South Thomaston Fire Department were dispatched to a curve in the road where the vehicle lay on its side in a ditch.

Though all four teens self-extricated, two of them were eventually transported to Pen Bay Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, a 2006 Pontiac Grand AM, operated by a 17 year-old-male juvenile, was traveling north and failed to negotiate a corner. The vehicle went off the roadway, up an embankment and came to rest on the driver side.

The operator and one passenger reported no injuries. The other two passengers reported non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

“The circumstances around the crash are under investigation but speed and operator inexperience are believed to be contributing factors in the crash,” said the KCSO.

Creek Hill Towing hauled the car away.
