CamdenCAN talks town solar: How can communities support renewable energy and save money?
The public is invited to a talk Nov. 14 at the Camden Library about municipal solar arrays and reduced electrical bills.
The talk begins at 6:30 p.m. and will include Thomaston Town Planner John Fancy and Lincolnville Town Administrator Dave Kinney, who will describe their town solar projects, energy independence and cost savings.
Hosted by CamdenCAN (Climate Action Now) in partnership with the Camden Public Library, the Camden Talks Climate event will take place in person in the Picker Room, as well as on Zoom.
Fancy, Thomaston’s Project Planner, will explain how his town reduced electricity bills over the last 14 years and have paid off the bonds.
Kinney, Lincolnville’s Town Administrator, will discuss his town’s approach to clean energy, and its financial benefits.
The evening will conclude with a question and answer period so that attendees are able discuss Camden's move toward clean municipal energy and cost savings.
Currently, Camden leases a solar array from Revision Energy at Sagamore Farm. It covers 7% to 8% of the town’s energy needs, according to CamdenCAN.
