Camden will provide absentee ballots for Jan. 14 Five Town CSD bond referendum
CAMDEN — Contrary to what the Camden Select Board and public was told at a Dec. 3 meeting, absentee ballots will be made available to voters prior to the Jan. 14 Five Town CSD referendum on a $7.3 million bond proposal.
Camden Town Clerk Katrina Oakes said Monday, Dec. 9, that the Select Board had been incorrectly informed about the absentee ballot availability.
She said it would be likely that absentee ballots will be available Dec. 13, 30 days in advance of the referendum vote. Oakes said Camden citizens wanting to vote via absentee ballot should call the town office; 207-236-3353.
The referendum will take place in Camden at the Camden Town Office lobby from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Other towns in the CSD — Appleton, Camde, Hope and Rockport — have yet to decide on the voting process for CSD referendum.
Ballots will be provided by the Five Town CSD, and town staff and volunteers will be counting the results.
Extra charges for the referendum vote, including overtime hours worked by municipal staff, will be applied to the CSD, as the town normally does when special referendums are held by the school districts.
Regular municipal business will be taking place at the town office the day of the vote.
