Camden Select Board agenda: Megunticook water level, quality monitoring; parental leave

Tue, 06/06/2023 - 10:30am

CAMDEN – Select Board action items June 6 include improving water testing and monitoring in Megunticook Lake and River and amending parental leave policy.

The Megunticook Watershed Association proposes to merge the Association and town’s water quality monitoring programs and to begin a water level monitoring program. The Association would serve as lead organization in administering the program.

The new program would provide the town with more data, in many more locations on the Megunticook River and Lake, provide much improved data on the health of the Watershed, and help all municipalities in the watershed better understand and address sources of degradation to water quality, Town Manager Audra Caler writes.

The Board will consider a recommendation to change current parental leave policy. The change would provide six weeks of paid parental leave and then allow employees to cover the remainder of the 12-week period allowed under the Family Medical Leave Act with accrued sick and/or vacation time. Current policy requires use of existing accrued sick and vacation leave, and then unpaid leave if accrued leave is depleted.

Select Board meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. in the French Conference Room on Washington Street, broadcast live on Spectrum Cable TV channel 1303 and web streamed at: www.youtube.com/TownofCamdenMaine. The full agenda packet can be viewed here.
