CAMDEN — Nonprofit organizations in Knox County and Lincolnville can apply for Camden Rotary Club grants from now until February 27.

This year’s grants will focus on organizations that address basic human needs.

“Many people are experiencing deep hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Richard Householder, in a news release.

Householder chairs the club’s charitable grants committee.

“So we are focusing all of our grants this year on organizations that provide direct help to people in need,” he said.

Eight grants will be awarded during this application cycle:

A single large grant of $10,000
Two large grants of $5,000
Five small grants of $1,000 each

All applications are due by February 27, 2021. Applicants must be 501(c)3 organizations registered to operate in Knox County or Lincolnville. Organizations can apply for grants in all categories but can win only one grant per year. Any organization that received a large or youth-oriented grant within the past five years is ineligible; so is any organization that received a small grant in the past two years.

The Camden Rotary Club’s Charitable Grants Committee prefers to fund projects for which the Camden Rotary Club award represents a significant portion of the project’s total cost. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate the capacity and readiness to start the project for which it is seeking funding in 2021.

The club will announce grant awards after a thorough review of all applications by its charitable grants committee, board of directors and members.

Since 2011, the Camden Rotary Club has distributed $218,500 in grants to local nonprofit organizations.

Members of the public are invited to attend the club’s weekly Zoom meetings at noon on Tuesdays. Contact Stephanie French at steph.griffinsg00@gmail.com for login details.
