CAMDEN — School Administrative District 28 (Camden-Rockport K-8) has initiated its Take-a-Seat Campaign and invites supporters to donate and name a seat in the new Bisbee Theater, which is under construction at the Camden-Rockport Middle School on Knowlton Street in Camden.

“You can make a lasting impression and support education, athletics, and the arts,” the fundraisers said, in a news release. “This will be the last local school project for multiple generations, so don’t miss this chance to show your support for years to come. Get one before they are gone.”

What?

For a one-time, tax deductible contribution, a name or message will be  inscribed on a plaque on the armrest of a seat in the new 226-seat theater.

Why?

All contributions will be used to fund lighting and sound upgrades for the theater, as well  as a redeveloped softball/field hockey field, playground equipment and/or a professional art installation for the new middle school.

Pricing

The seats are variably priced depending on location, as fundraisers are hoping to raise more than $100,000 but want a seat to be accessible for everyone.

Seat contributions range from $250 to $1,000 depending on location (as shown below).

Plaque 

With a contribution, the donor will receive up to two lines of text each containing 20 characters including spaces. The plaque will remain in place for the life of the seat making this essentially a permanent naming opportunity.

Can one pick a seat?

Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. One can choose your seat by going in person to the Bus Barn at 7 Lions Lane where a seating chart is available to view and choose from.

How to contribute and Take-a-Seat

By mail: If one is happy letting the campaign committee choose which seat one’s plaque will be placed on (within one’s specified price range based on the above diagram), complete the attached order form and return it by mail with payment to  Scott Pons, Business Manager, 7 Lions Lane, Camden ME 04843

In person: Specific seats can be chosen in person at 7 Lions Lane 8:00-4:30, Mon – Fri.

Why “Take-a-Seat”? 

One’s seat may serve as a unique and personalized gift or a memorial for those who loved the theater. Name a seat in honor of friends and family or in appreciation of a teacher, minister, or other special person in one’s life. Place one’s own name on a seat as a statement of one’s involvement and support of CRMS. Place one’s favorite quotation on the seat. Place the name of a business or organization on a seat to demonstrate corporate involvement and support of the performing arts and education in Camden.

Making a contribution and naming a seat does not reserve the use of the seat for ticketed performances.
