ROCKPORT — The Camden National Bank softball team jumped out to an early lead and never once looked back as they cruised to a 22-7 victory over Cedarworks in the 2014 Five Towns Little League Softball championship game on June 15.

The game, played at the Marge Jones Recreational Facility in Rockport, saw Camden National Bank score five runs in the first, six in the second, two in the third, six in the fourth and two in the fifth.

On the flip side, Cedarworks scored one run in each the first and third innings, while having a slight five run rally in the fifth.

Team members for Camden National Bank included Capri Buck, Amanda McFarland, Lydia Bragg, Grace O’Connel, Bella Christie, Caroline Contento, Abbie Nathan, Kendra Merrill, Alyssa Bland, Mary Christie and Clara Bragg. Vin Contento is the manager, while Roscoe McFarland and Lauria O’Connel serve as coaches.

Team members for Cedarworks included Logan Craney, Dani Cayouette, Kat O’Brien, Mary Kate Pons, Olivia Ogier, Kennedy Peterson, Felicity Whalen, Jozi Brawn, Kate Walker-Spencer, Maddie Shoudy and Brenna Mackey. Aaron Craney is the manager and Chuck Brawn, Matt Ogier and Brenda Cayouette serve as coaches.

Scoring runs for Camden National Bank were O’Connel and McFarland, who each had four, and Buck, Contento and Christie, who each had three. Nathan also came across the plate twice, while Bland, Clara Bragg and Lydia Bragg each came around once.

Runs for Cedarworks came courtesy of Cayouette and Craney, who each had two runs, as well as from Ogier, O’Brien and Mackey, who each had one.

In the Five Towns Little League, a team can score a maximum of six runs in a single inning and there are no mercy rules. Therefore, Camden National Bank was able to post a 22-7 score through five-and-a-half innings. (Since Camden National Bank was the home team, they did not have to bat the bottom of the sixth since they were already ahead.)
