ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills Regional High School Visual and Performance Art department has announced the November and December Students of the Month to be Lizzi Ogle and Aidan Acosta, respectively.

Lizzi has been involved with the arts for many years. She has taken drawing, advanced drawing and painting, and is currently enrolled in advanced art portfolio.

She has shown her work in the CHRHS Fine Arts Night, and worked on the Mural Arts project last summer in Rockland. She recently worked on the sets for the CHRHS Fall Musical, The Addams Family.

Lizzi's current passion is working with storytelling and character creation through both art and writing, especially with the themes of feminism and humanism. She has created an extensive portfolio of carefully rendered characters based in the late 1800s, using pen and ink and art markers. She is working on a story and handmade book with these characters.

Besides her interest in visual art, Lizzie is interested in other cultures. She studies Japanese at the Penobscot language school, and has traveled to China, Japan with the Rotary Short-Term Exchange Program.

Lizzi plans to attend art school next year, focusing on illustration and animation.

CHRHS Senior Aidan Acosta is the Visual and Performing Arts Student of the Month for December.

Aidan has been involved in visual arts during his entire CHRHS career. He started by taking Intro to Photography class, and has branched out to include Drawing, Metal Sculpture and a number of other arts areas.

Aidan's primary focus in the arts is photography. After intro to Photography, he took classes in Photo Studio and Advanced Photo Studio. He then planned and successfully completed an independent study with local photographer Jim Nicholsen, with an emphasis on landscape and night photography.

He has arranged an exhibition of his photo work at Carver Hill Gallery in Rockland. Aidan's work can also be seen on his website, aidanacosta.com

In addition to his interest in the arts, Aidan takes a leading in the Windplanners, the Mountain Bike team, and other school groups.

Aidan's advice for other arts students is to create time to follow your interests, and take advantage of resources we have in this school and community, including classes, mentors and independent study options.
