Booster shot schedule now offers walk-ins, evening hours

LincolnHealth has made changes to its booster clinic schedule and expanded vaccine eligibility in the hope more individuals age 12 and up will receive this extra layer of protection against COVID-19.

Beginning today (Monday, Jan. 10), those seeking a booster shot have the option of scheduling an appointment for a booster shot or walk-in to clinic at the Watson Health Center on the Miles campus in Damariscotta when the clinic is open. In addition, on Wednesdays and Thursdays, the hours have been shifted to 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to reach those who have not yet been vaccinated due to work commitments.

“While there are many places in the state where boosters are hard to come by, we have the vaccine and the staff to provide this important service to the community,’’ said Cindy Wade, president of LincolnHealth. “We hope these changes will bring more people to the clinic and expand the protections that boosters provide in Lincoln County.”

Recently, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said those who received the Pfizer vaccine series can receive a booster shot five months after their second shot. The booster interval recommendation for people who received the J&J vaccine (2 months) or the Moderna vaccine (6 months), has not changed. The CDC opened the booster vaccine to ages 12 and up recently as well.

The Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
