CatVideoFest returns with a new compilation screening offered as a fundraiser for the Strand and other art house theaters, starting on Friday, April 10.

Each year, CatVideoFest curates a compilation reel of the latest, best cat videos; screening events take place in theaters all over the world and raise money for cats in need.

For the first time ever, CatVideoFest is available to screen virtually outside of theaters. With their new release,  Best of CatVideoFest: Creature Comforts Edition, virtual “tickets” can be purchased through participating theater websites, then the video can be watched at home when the viewer chooses.

“Best of CatVideoFest: Creature Comforts Edition, created by CVF video curator Will Braden, is a 40-min ‘treat’ of a reel that includes the very best videos from CVF's illustrious history, and will be released on April 10,” said Strand, in a news release.

Oscilloscope, the film distributor, has generously provided this new video as a fundraising opportunity for small theaters such as the Strand, by offering a 75% split of the ticket proceeds, according to the Strand.

The Best of CatVideoFest isn't feature-length, so instead of standard ticket pricing; it is being offered on a "Pay What You Want" basis. Virtual tickets can be purchased starting at $.99 or for as much as the viewer wishes.

Tickets will be available on the Strand Theatre website starting Friday, April 10, and continue through Thursday, April 16. The streaming schedule will be extended if there is public demand.

Additional feature length new release movies are available through the Strand Theatre website, as well as information about streaming free captured-live productions from the Metropolitan Opera and London’s National Theatre.

The Strand Theatre is a nonprofit organization, owned and operated by the Friends of the Strand Theatre. Like many businesses and organizations, the Strand’s operations and income have been greatly affected by closure due to COVID-19, according to the strand. Community support through Memberships, sponsorships, annual fund donations, gift card purchases, or virtual ticket purchases will help the Strand compensate its employees and keep its operations afloat until it can once again open its doors to the community.
