Belfast wrestling finishes fifth at Tiger Invitational

GARDINER — The Belfast wrestling program traveled Saturday, Dec. 14 to compete in the Tiger Invitational at Gardiner High School. 

By the end of the meet, the Lions had secured fifth place with 79 points. 

Placing in the meet for Belfast were Connor Fournier (second), Gavynn Young (first), Brian White (third) and Cam Watts (second). 

106 pounds: Connor Fournier (Belfast) pinned Jacob St. Pierre (Mt. Blue), defeated Alissa Caltagirone (York) and lost to Ostin Smith (Monmouth) 

113 pounds: Gavynn Young (Belfast) pinned Dyllan Lingley (Cony), pinned Reese Hesseltine (Wiscasset) and pinned Brett Bognosian (Cheverus). 

145 pounds: Jonah Lovejoy (Belfast) pinned Charlie Salow (Portland/South Portland), pinned by Adam Loewen (Mt. Blue) and lost by majority decision to David York (Kennebunk). 

152 pounds: Gabe Kelley (Belfast) won by majority decision Mason Rowe (Mt. Blue), pinned by Mason Sawary (Morse) and lost by disqualification against Abdullah Abdullah (Portland/South Portland). 

160 pounds: Jackson Lapierre (Belfast) pinned by Brad Couture (Mt. Blue). 

182 pounds: Nathaniel Porter (Belfast) defeated Jack Cole (Portland/South Portland), lost to Isaak Sinclair (Morse) and lost to Greyden Lindstedt (Cheverus). 

195 pounds: Brian White (Belfast) pinned Jake Butler (Westbrook/Gorham), pinned by Trevor Fecko (Kennebunk), pinned Bryce Busell (Maine Central Institute) and pinned Sebastian Morill (Cheverus). 

220 pounds: Cam Watts (Belfast) won by majority decision against John Howard (Mt. Blue), pinned William Orso (York) and lost to Sean Sullivan (Cheverus). 

285 pounds: Rayon Kirby (Belfast) won by majority decision against Deja Douglass (Morse), pinned by Jeffrey Kirk (Bangor) and pinned by Chris Fortin (Kennebunk).
