Belfast, Medomak Valley fall short in quest for KVAC golf crown

ROCKLAND — Four high school golf teams converged Thursday, Sept. 26 on the front nine holes at the Rockland Golf Club to fight for the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B Championship. 

Of those four teams participating in the shootout event, two of the teams hailed from the Midcoast. 

Medomak Valley and Belfast represented the local squads, while Leavitt and Waterville also participated in the event. 

The Rockland Golf Club is the home golf course for Medomak Valley. 

By the end of the shootout, Leavitt won the KVAC Class B championship with a low four score of 175. 

Immediately following Leavitt was Waterville with a low four score of 186. 

Both Medomak Valley and Belfast compiled low four scores of 189. 

The event’s medalist was Ruby Haylock of Leavitt and Thomas Parker of Belfast. 

The qualifier event for states will be held Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Natanis at 10 a.m. 

The MPA team championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 at Natanis at 10 a.m. 

The MPA individual championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 12 at Natanis at 10 a.m.
