Belfast Daffodil Project beams with spring blooms, public invited to join autumn bulb order

The Belfast Daffodil Project thanks all who bought bulbs and helped to plant them for the resulting glorious yellow daffodil displays around town this spring.
The effort was a success thanks to volunteers, including the Otter Trails home school group that was instrumental in planting thousands of daffodils last fall. They, along with students at Troy Howard Middle School and many other volunteers, brightened up spring by planting a total of 8,500 bulbs in 2023.
This coming autumn, the Belfast Daffodil Project anticipates planting thousands more daffodils as it inches towards its Million Bulb Goal.
“We cannot continue without the citizens and businesses of Belfast that support this project by buying bulbs and helping to plant them,” according to news release. “We invite you to join us.”
Now is the time to place bulb orders. You can purchase the bulbs now as part of the project’s bulk daffodil bulb order and when they arrive in the fall make your own display, form a planting team to help get the community ordered bulbs in, or donate purchased bulbs to the project. Bulbs are $.30 each with a minimum order of $30 for 100 bulbs.
To order, complete an order form, available at the front desk of the Waldo County YMCA or by email request at jrmabee@gmail.com (put DAFFODILS in the subject line), then drop your check payable to the City of Belfast, at the YMCA front desk.
You may also mail checks to the Waldo County YMCA at 157 Lincolnville Ave, Belfast, ME 04915; Attn: Jan McIntyre.
In addition please let Jan know if you would like to help plant bulbs in the fall. The last day to order is Saturday, June 29, for fall 2024 planting.
